Most Shopify product descriptions are a list of features. Dimensions. Materials. Colors. Weight. None of that makes someone buy. People buy outcomes, not products. Your description needs to close that gap — from "here is a product" to "here is your life, slightly better."
Every high-converting Shopify description follows this pattern: Before (name the problem), After (describe life with the problem solved), Bridge (explain how this product gets them there).
Example for a posture corrector: Before: "By 3pm, your shoulders are halfway up to your ears." After: "Proper posture means not waking up stiff every morning." Bridge: "The AlignPro trains your muscles in 20 minutes a day so they remember the right position."
Every feature must answer "so what?" for the buyer. "100% organic cotton" becomes "Breathable organic cotton that stays soft wash after wash." "Double-walled insulation" becomes "Keeps coffee hot for 6 hours — from your morning commute to your afternoon meeting."
Shopify automatically generates structured data for product pages. But quality depends on how you fill in fields. Critical fields most sellers miss: GTIN/Barcode, Product Category (Google taxonomy), Brand/Vendor, Product Type (keyword-rich), and Weight/Dimensions.
Test your structured data at Google's Rich Results Test. Ensure: at least one high-quality image (min 800x800px), price clearly stated, availability accurate, at least 1 review with star rating, description 100+ words.
72% of Shopify traffic is mobile. Rules: Maximum 3 sentences per paragraph. Bold headers every 50-75 words. Bullet points for lists of 3+ items. Test on actual phone, not just Chrome responsive mode. Keep key information above the fold.
Listara generates Shopify product descriptions in the Before/After/Bridge structure, already formatted for both conversion and SEO, with Google Shopping fields optimized.
